Overview: Ledger Live is the official companion app for Ledger hardware wallets. Access is controlled by your physical device and device PIN (plus an optional passphrase) rather than a centralized username/password account. This reduces remote attack surface but makes personal operational security vital.
There is no cloud login that holds your private keys: Ledger Live displays account balances and manages transactions, but signing happens on your Ledger hardware device. When prompted, you approve actions on the device itself using your PIN; private keys never leave the device.
Ledger documents a passphrase feature that adds an extra secret word to your recovery set, creating hidden wallets. It’s powerful, but losing the passphrase means losing access to the funds protected by it. Read the passphrase guides before enabling.
If Ledger Live behaves strangely or asks for your seed, disconnect and consult official support. Do not type your recovery phrase anywhere. Ledger’s support hub and tutorial library have step-by-step recovery and troubleshooting materials.
